Gebrüder T 1819

Since 1819 the Gebrüder T 1819 family now in 5th generation has been producing the designs of the entrepreneur and designer Michael Thonet including the world famous bentwood chair no. 14 but also designs from Otto Wagner, Adolf Loos and other Viennese architects. At their factory in Germany later in the 1920ies the family was strongly involved in the development and first industrial production of the designs of the architects that were closely related to the Bauhaus. The furniture of Mart Stam, Marcel Breuer, Mies van der Rohe, LeCorbousier and other designers was produced in Frankenberg from the very early times. Today we still manufacture the original designs of Michael Thonet and also the tubular steel furniture designs of Mart Stam, Marcel Breuer and Mies van der Rohe. The contemporary furniture line comprises designs from Stefan Diez, Claudio Bellini, Lievore Altherr Molina, Pierro Lissoni, Naoto Fukasawa, James Irvine and others. The products of Gebrüder T 1819 are genuine and produced in Germany.

CREDIBILITY Plain and simple is good and precious ZEITRAUM isn´t just furniture, ZEITRAUM is an attiude to life and the things around us. The objects which accompany us through life should have character, whilst also being practical, adaptable and unobtrusive. They are a mirror and an expression of their owner, a servant and a friend. Our furniture is attractive because it is of good quality not because of designer frills. It impresses without dominating – exciting in its simplicity. QUALITY CREATES LONGEVITY If you don´t want to go with the flow. You need ideas. Our idea is quite simple – quality. Our furniture has to put up with a lot. Removals, decoration and even children´s parties. What it doesn´t put up with is design trends, which is good because its originality allows it to meet our changing requirements. Our design is a tribute to simplicity, to the purity of the materials, the constancy of the form. For furnitures which last more than a lifetime. ZEITRAUM furniture doesn´t age, it matures. WOOD – COMFORTABLE AND LIVELY The special glow of our timber is an invitation for both hands and eyes to follow its unique structure and grain. It doesn´t matter whether warm or cold, wood always feels comfortable. We can´t really see it because it lives very slowly. That´s impressive! Even more impressive is the fact that wood lives on after it has been felled – the floorboards creak, the walls groan almost as if they had just grown a new ring. THE SURFACES OF OUR FURNITURE ARE IMPORTANT FOR US. They have to look good, fell smooth and smell natural. We have to work hard to achieve this: the finely sanded surfaces are primed with oil and then sanded again prior to being hand finished with oil or beeswax balsam. This open-pore treatment allows the wood to breathe, absorbing and dispensing moisture from its surroundings. This treatment also prevents static, meaning that the surfaces don´t attract dust. PRODUCT CARE ZEITRAUM furniture is hand made with much care and is extremely robust. Looking after the furniture is therefore a simple task. In most cases wiping the surfaces with da damp cloth is all that´s required. An occasional oiling, or in the case of heavily abraded surfaces such as tabletops, waxing will keep the furniture looking great – you might even enjoy it!
